Gary Rackliff is an instructor at CDL University’s Oklahoma City, Oklahoma campus.
We hope you enjoy reading the following instructor profile on Mr. Gary Rackliff.
Gary’s love for the transportation industry began as a youngster when he would go to work with his father. Gary’s father owned a number of trucks during Gary’s childhood. His summers were spent in and around trucks with his father, doing things such as hauling scrap metal across the western United States.
Gary Rackliff took his first driving after high school job hauling lumber and other building materials for a major contractor in the Southern California region. Eventually, Gary moved to Oklahoma and took a different career path in other industries serving in multiple positions of management and business.
Gary returned to his roots in the transportation industry when the opportunity arose as an Over the Road (OTR) driver for a major carrier. After several years as a company driver, Gary was challenged to purchase his own truck and become an owner-operator. He leased his equipment with himself as the driver to a specialized company hauling pipe in the oilfield industry. When the oilfield industry declined, Gary took the next step in his transportation career by obtaining his own authority and establishing Exodus Transportation, LLC. Known for its exceptional customer service, Exodus Transportation became a “first call” carrier for several companies and government entities, including hauling military freight out of Tinker Air Force Base.
As his business grew, he was confronted with the need to expand and after careful consideration, Gary decided against expanding his company. Instead, Gary chose to pursue an area of the transportation industry that would allow him to share his knowledge and experience with others as an instructor.
Gary Rackliff has served in the transportation industry in multiple positions and roles; including, but not limited to, the following:
- Small carrier;
- Transportation supervisor;
- Instructor; and
- Lead Instructor.
