Truck Stop Activities to Stay Healthy as a Truck Driver

As a truck driver, you will make stops at truck stops like Love’s or Pilot Flying J. These are great places to manage your health.

  • Keep A Food And Exercise Journal

If you maintain a daily log as to what you eat and how much you exercise, you’ll easily be able to determine any bad eating habits you have or what causes you to neglect your workouts. The life of a truck driver might be demanding, but it can also be quite gratifying when you manage your schedule.

  • Eat Three Times A Day

Don’t skip meals! This may lead to compulsive overeating afterward in the day, making it more difficult to lose weight. Instead, you’ll keep food cravings at bay and nibbling to a minimum if you eat all three meals- breakfast, lunch, and dinner. 

  • Make The Most Of What You Have Around

Are there any pathways around where you’re stopping? Or is there another location in which you can run? How about gyms at a truck stop? 

If there’s anything nearby that can help you work out, enjoy the benefits of it.  Run a few circuits at a local park, regardless if it’s only a small one. Do jumping jacks, squats, or other exercises in empty parking spaces next to your semi-truck at a truck stop. 

  • Mindful Meditate for at Least 10 Minutes a Day

Managing your mental health is also very important as a truck driver. Meditation has been found to:

Always keep in mind that attention on the road and safety come first. Dedicate your mindful times to managing your health when you’re stopped and in a safe location.
